I like a lot of pairings with Meta Knight, but I always had the impression that he doesn’t really care for anyone, and if anyone at all, himself. He’s characterized as extremely arrogant, and the way he had his mask design on the front of the Halberd points at a bit of narcissism.
I also always imagined Dark Meta Knight being Meta Knight's wilder side. So if Meta Knight is actually narcissistic, all the more crazy Dark Meta Knight's going to be for him, eh?
Narcissism is named after Narcissus in Greek mythology, who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water.

This is a funny concept. It makes me wonder if Dark Meta Knight didn't just have strong romantic feelings for Meta Knight and captured him so that the two could be together forever.
Also, here's an interesting detail pertaining to the Meta Mask on the Halberd: the dialogue in Revenge of Meta Knight in both the original Kirby Super Star and Super Star Ultra implies that the Halberd is actually Captain Vul's and that he's the leader, yet Meta Knight says that Dreamland will bow before him (Meta Knight).
Huh. Strange.
